Manchester United Poised to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year remaining on her contract, has been a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League side.
Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated since she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s fans after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top strikers. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move have now been completed.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major uplift to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Carrington
Securing the German international comes at a time when the club appear to be building momentum.
Recent performances feature qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s extension, a senior figure stated: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the NWSL, said: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
