US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles recently having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, per media reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a announcement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
A Prolific Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, like:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
