Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
