The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Annually, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
