The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating chaos and insanity with similar glee, all while presenting captivating, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those things.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a different location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady belief and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, daring style to the screen.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
